Citroën is a leading car manufacturer, part of the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group - the second largest in Europe and the sixth largest producer of cars and LCVs in the world (OICA, 2009). Citroën is founded in 1919 by André-Gustave Citroën. Its names has always been synonymous to revolutionary engineering innovation as well as keen marketing. In 1955 it launched the first car with disk brakes in Europe - the DS model, which boasted the legendary hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension system of Citroën. In 1967 it invented the first swiveling headlights. The avant-garde and radical design of the DS, CX and the 2CV created an unusual brand loyalty and created a legendary cult for Citroën cars from 1975 till 1995. The company is a pioneer in the aerodynamic automobile design. During the 1950s it started using a wind tunnel and created cars like the DS, which were years ahead of their time. Its CX model had such impressive aerodynamics, that it gave its name to the term that measures the drag coefficient - CX. In 1976 Peugeot SA purchased 90% of the company and created the PSA Peugeot Citroën. Citroën was a keen marketeer and besides launching remarkable advertising campaigns, he also pioneered the modern concept of creating a sales and services network. The company's logo depicts the marks from the gears it manufactured. The logo has been redesigned in 2009 for the 90th anniversary of Citroën with a new font and a new tagline "Créative Technologie" that reflects the established reputation of Citroën as a revolutionary in design and technology.
